How to record landings in MSFS 2024

The easy way to record landings in MSFS 2024 is background logging: the Flare client reads the flight and shows the debrief after touchdown. Below are the ways to record, the client setup and privacy.

What “recording landings” means in MSFS 2024

Recording a landing means saving the approach and touchdown data that a debrief is built from. Without it there is only a feeling; with it there are objective metrics and a history to compare.

Ways to record flights

There are built-in and third-party ways, and each has its limits.

The simulator’s built-in log and its limits

The built-in log records that a flight happened, but it does not give a touchdown breakdown: it has no vertical speed, load factor or other landing metrics.

Third-party tools and cloud sync

Third-party clients can record a flight in the background and sync it between machines. Flare records the flight, computes touchdown metrics and keeps them in your account.

How to record landings with Flare

Setup takes a few steps; after that recording runs on its own.

Account and first run

Create a free account and sign in — it links the recorded flights to your history.

Installing the Flare Windows client

Download the Windows client and install it. The client runs in the background and does not interfere with the flight.

Pairing a device (device code)

Link the computer to your account with a device code: it confirms that recording goes to your profile.

Recording runs in the background

After pairing, just fly as usual: takeoff and landing are detected automatically, with no buttons in flight.

What happens after touchdown

When the flight ends, Flare shows a 0–100 score and a touchdown breakdown: vertical speed, load factor, centreline, bounce and touchdown zone. The recording syncs to your account, so the history is available on other machines too.

Privacy: who can see your flights

Flights are private by default. You can share a public debrief link manually, and only then can others see the flight. Personal data is not exposed in a public debrief.

FAQ

Do I need to press anything during the flight?

No. After pairing, the client records the flight in the background, and takeoff and landing are detected automatically.

Does the client interfere with the flight?

No, the client only reads simulator data and does not change the flight.

What does the debrief after touchdown show?

A 0–100 score and touchdown metrics: vertical speed, load factor, centreline, bounce and touchdown zone.

Who can see my flights?

Only you by default. A public debrief link appears only after you share it yourself.

Ready to debrief your landing?

Flare reads a completed MSFS 2024 flight and shows a 0–100 score with a touchdown breakdown.
